Senior Commodity Analyst - Grains (f/m/d)

We are looking to strengthen our global research team, adding to our commodity desk. This senior role will focus on providing the freight trading desks with insight and analysis of the supply and demand of grains and oilseeds markets. The successful candidate will work closely together with Oldendorff’s global research team and its commercial desks to forecast and identify changes in trade flows covering global grain markets. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily fundamental analysis and forecast-specific supply & demand (short & long term) of major grain products, such as soybean, corn, wheat & barley.
  • Responsible for forecasting regional grain trade flows.
  • Develop & maintain industry models & indicators to support freight trading strategies.
  • Assist with the business development and strategic activities through the provision of detailed insightful market analysis.
  • Work closely with commercial desks and freight research to identify trading opportunities.
  • Lead and contribute to global research projects as required.

What You Bring Along

Skill Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in commodities research, with a pre-existing solid contact network within agricultural commodities markets.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
  • Able to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Excel & Microsoft Office applications (Word, Powerpoint etc.). Programming experience (ie. Python) considered favourably, but not essential.
  • Experience working with large, dynamic data sets. 
  • Candidates with a proven track record of analysing global grain markets, or with prior experience in a trading/ marketing role will be considered favourably.
