Are you passionate about the shipping industry and skilled at solving complex operational challenges? We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Ops Claims Manager to join our dynamic global team! In this role, you will provide expert guidance and support on a wide range of commercial and operational matters arising before, during, and after a vessel’s voyage. You will play a key role in protecting the company’s commercial interests and turning potential disputes into successful resolutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-house guidance on operational and commercial issues occurring before, during, and after voyages, including related FD&D (Freight, Demurrage & Defence) matters.
- Analyse, interpret and explain charterparty clauses and related contracts from both a practical and legal perspective.
- Assess the company’s position in potential or ongoing disputes, evaluate claim exposure and recovery prospects and advise on optimal strategies for resolution.
- Pursue outstanding balances such as unpaid hire, freight, and demurrage, ensuring timely debt collection and protection of company interests.
- Review and advise on Bills of Lading, Letters of Indemnity (LOIs) and other shipping documents.
- Manage voyage-related commercial claims in close coordination with the Legal department.
- Negotiate claim settlements directly with counterparties.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in ship operations and/or maritime claims (a law degree is preferred but not required).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset.
Ability to handle multiple cases efficiently and make informed decisions under pressure. - A proactive approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- A collaborative team player with flexibility and the ability to communicate confidently across departments.
